Motif Prayers

The 3rd Thursday of every month I meet with ladies at our church for a "Card Ministry" Evening. We get together to make cards for the card rack at the church for the congregation to use to send to one another for prayer and encouragement. Here's one of the two cards that we made a bunch of this month:

ALY'S HELPFUL HINTS:

• "Groom Specialty Paper" is not just for weddings! I've used this delicious black foil on black paper for everything from Halloween to Get Well. It's just the perfect tone on tone black paper that holds so much versatility!
• This card is a 6" x 3" Card – it fits perfectly in our Small Open End Envelopes, and is just the right size to hold a check or money. This particular card came from a 12" x 12" piece of cardstock and was cut 12" x 3" so it folded the long way. You can also cut 6" x 6" squares from 8 1/2" x 11" cardstock, but you'll save the most using 12" x 12", getting 4 cards to a sheet of cardstock.
• The Neutral Brad "prongs" are pretty hefty – be sure to use a Paper Piercer and Mat Pack to set them with ease!

Get Well Bandaid

I made this fun card for my aunt who is recovering from surgery. I received this stamp set free at Convention for one of my Annual Achivement Awards, and had yet to use it! Decided it was time to whip it out  — it's a fun one!

This card is also a huge milestone for me… this is the FIRST card I think I've ever done without Stampin' Dimensionals on it!!!!!! I honestly can't believe it myself… as I sit here typing out the Supply List I'm still thinking there must be a mistake…!

ALY'S HELPFUL HINTS:

• The "bandaid" look was replicated as a cardstock layer by running Creamy Caramel Cardstock through the Big Shot with a Polka Dot Texture Plate! TIP: To get a deeper impression with your texture plate, try spritzing your cardstock with a little water on the BACK side of the cardstock. If you do it on the front you'll get water spots on your cardstock. The extra moisture helps to mold the cardstock as it goes through your machine!
• Buttons always have two sides! I needed a small vanilla button and the only one I had (or so I thought!) had a flower on it. I just flipped it over and voila! A brand new button.
• Tying some Linen Thread through your button holes is the perfect way to finish it off. The adhesive of choice for buttons? Mini Glue Dots, hands down!
• Tying one ribbon type around another is a great way to add some added interest.
