Every month I make cards for the Top 10 Sales Achievers on our Team. It's so fun to recognize this group, and to make the cards! Here is the card I made back in July or August (I can't remember which!)

• The colors used are: Lucky Limeade, Early Espresso, Island Indigo and Regal Rose.

Designer Flowers of Thanks

This card was actually a card that I had made a while back that inspired my August Card Kit of the Month (available for just 10 more days!). I thought I would still share it with you, even though it's so similar, so you can see a different take on color, accessories and sentiments.

ALY'S HELPFUL HINTS:

• Black is a wonderfully rich, vibrant, neutral color that I think we take for granted all to often. We're so quick to stamp our outlines and greetings in black, but I think rarely do we pull the black into different areas of our card to accent with embellishments in cardstock. This card is a wonderful example of how far black can take a card – doesn't it just make things pop off the page!?
• I'm in a rut with these Flower Brads! And it's not a BAD thing – but I just can't stop sticking them on top of this stem image from the "For Everything" stamp set. I just love the look!
• Have you given our new Patterns Paper Stacks a try yet? If not, you should! They are a fantastic assortment – a girl doesn't need much more than her Polka Dots and Stripes! And to have them in EVERY color for an entire collection? Oh yea! That's what I'm taking about!!! Shown here in Razzleberry and Turquoise.

Newsprint Amour…

By far, my favorite new line in the entire new catalog is the "Vintage Suite" line. You can get an overview on pages 124 and 125 of the new catalog. Here is a card I created using some products from this line!

• Stampin' Up! describes the "Vintage Suite" line the following way…
  • Aged, Typographical Art
  • Weathered, Antiqued Paper Designs

  • For Cards, Pages and Decor
• You're going to be seeing this line a LOT from me, because I find it just delicious! On this card, I've used the Newsprint Designer Series Paper and Antique Brads to create the overall tone for the card.
• I'm not sure that I've ever created a card so simplistic in it's color choices! But it works. I just love how crisp simple usage of black and vanilla is. I did throw in some Crumb Cake for another neutral addition.
• To make this wide striped grosgrain ribbon narrow, I just folded it in half!

A Tropical Card for Summer Wishes!

Happy first day of Summer!!! That's right – today is the Summer Solstice! I just love Summer. My favorite thing to do in the summer is swim – so I promise you that I will show you some Summer Swimming scrapbook pages in the coming month or two (nope – it probably won't be me in the pictures – because my LEAST favorite thing about the Summer is the need to wear a bathing suit!!).

But for today, I'm going to share with you a card in line with my other favorite thing about Summer besides swimming… Cocktails! I LOVE Summer Cocktails… I was exposed to my first REAL Pina Colada on the Stampin' Up! Cruise to Bermuda so this card brings back happy memories from that.

ALY'S HELPFUL HINTS:

• This is one of my FAVORITE Summer Color Combinations: Tempting Turquoise, Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie, Rose Red and So Saffron. The colors are just so BRIGHT and CHEERY! And they totally scream summer. Stampin' Up!'s latest Designer Series Paper Pack, Island Oasis, highlights these colors beautifully!
• There's a lot of cutting out on this card… something I don't usually do! I think the reason that people struggle most with cutting is because they don't know how to REALLY use scissors. I hope that doesn't sound insulting because yes, scissors are something we learn to use in kindergarten… but it really is the truth! I find that people who struggle most with cutting are moving their scissors to get the cuts and pretty much leaving the paper still. For the best results, you actually want to do the opposite! Leave your scissors still and move your cardstock around into the blade. Give it a try the next time you need to make a cut!
• The other thing I want to comment on in this card is the greeting "Just Chillin'" – don't those white words really "POP"!? I just love using RubOns for my greetings for this very reason. Unfortunately… our Chit Chat RubOns are retiring… But you can still get them through June 30th!

A SWAP by Phyl

One of my favorite things about Team Time is seeing the SWAPS that everyone comes up with! This month, Team Member Phyl Lyons made this beautiful swap showcasing the Fancy Flower Punch!

ALY'S HELPFUL HINTS:

• To create the suede look to these flowers as Phyl did here, punch out your flowers and rough them up with a Bone Folder, bending the cardstock around the Bone Folder to break down the fibers. Once the fibers break down, the cardstock will start to separate into two pieces. Pull the pieces apart and you know have 2 suede looking flowers to work with!
• Our Whisper White Craft Ink is the perfect choice for stamping on a darker color, as shown here with the Whisper White flowers on the Soft Suede Cardstock.

Team Time SWAPS!

One of my favorite things about our Monthly Heartfelt Stamper's Team Times is seeing everyone's fabulous creations in the form of SWAPS! Here are 3 of my favorites from our March Team Time!

Created by Kriss Huels: Kriss used a stamp set called "Elements of Style" from the upcoming Summer Mini Catalog – it's becoming one of my all time favorite sets! Love it!! She paired it beautifully with Bordering Blue, So Saffron, Pretty in Pink and Always Artichoke colors.

Created by Phyl Lyons: I just love the layout that Phyl selected! She achieved the fabulous background with a Wood Grain Texturz Plate in the Big Shot. It's funny because I hardly ever see Bordering Blue used and I used it on my own SWAP, Kriss used it on hers above and Phyl used it on this one! Must be a new trend!

Created by Pam Kane: Another great choice of layout! I love all of the layering that Pam did with Not Quite Navy, So Saffron and Kraft Cardstock. This stamp set is a Level 2 Hostess Exclusive!
