The FINAL Day of the Stamp Out Breast Cancer Campaign!

Today is the LAST DAY of the "Stamp Out Breast Cancer" Campaign! This means that it's the LAST DAY of Cards of Hope, the LAST DAY to submit your story, the LAST DAY to order the Card Kits for a Cure, the LAST DAY to help the site hit 3,000 views and the LAST DAY to place orders that support the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Foundation and orders that qualify for a FREE Pink Ribbon Sampler!

"On April 1, 2002 – April Fools Day — I discovered a lump on my right breast. However, this was not a joke. I went through the motions one goes through before the actual diagnosis: the biopsy, the waiting, and then the dreaded news, "You've got breast cancer!" As I prayed that evening, after I received the news that my life has forever been changed, I received these words, which became my mantra: "Your body has cancer, not your mind or spirit." Throughout the arduous journey I kept repeating this and trusting that God, who is a loving Father, would carry me through and for five years He has been there every step of the way.

I share my mantra with my breast cancer "sisters" and I pray that you will persevere on this journey and recognize God's grace.

ALY'S HELPFUL HINTS:

  • This card also allows the fabulous Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder to add some glitz and glamour! It was used on the Dotted Background – for more information on using Iridescent Ice EP, be sure to read yesterday's Helpful Hints!
  • Crystal Effects is what allows this ribbon to "pop" so much, giving it a shinny lacquered look.
  • Tying one ribbon around another is a fabulous way to finish off tag toppers for an "out of the box" look – here I mixed two very different ribbons, taffeta and polka dot grosgrain, and it works! Don't be afraid to mix and match.

Stamp Out Breast Cancer Day #6!

"I learned that for some of us, our recovery will involve being helped by others, and for some it will involve helping others. Some won't want anybody to know, while others will show and describe all that we have been through. And no matter what, it is all okay. It's okay to be afraid, to cry, to yell, to laugh; it's all okay. It's been two years and I have never felt so blessed, loved, and believe it or not, lucky. It has taught me that it can always be worse and that there is always a blessing to be counted. I have found that there is a sisterhood out there and I am part of it. I am a part of this strong and wonderful group of women that I can count on and they can count on me too. I am so honored to be a part of this. I am blessed.

ALY'S HELPFUL HINTS:

  • How is this card so wonderfully shimmery? With Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder, that's how! This fabulous must have is basically clear EP mixed with glitter. Use it like any other EP — stamp your image in VersaMark, sprinkle on the powder, and heat with a Heat Tool! Using this medium even allows the glitter to be more mess free, sticking in with the EP much more than if you used glue.
  • To add Iridescent Ice EP to the butterfly and torn cardstock edge — simply use your VersaMark Inkpad as it's own stamp, directly pressing the pad to cardstock!
  • A simple white border around the edge of the card allows the images to all pop a little more, with a color scheme like this, you need the white to brighten things up!

Stamp Out Breast Cancer Day #5!

"Hello, I'm Pamela. I am a 53-year-old single white female. Last June I was diagnosed with Stage 1 breast cancer. All my sisters were with me and I was devastated. I'm here to tell you that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I had chemo and radiation and I thought it would never end, but it did. Everyone was so nice to me, and I met some wonderful friends. When I lost my hair, that was devastating but now it has come back and everyone loves it. So to all of you who have been diagnosed, hang in there and you will make it. If I can, anyone can, but it's not an easy road. You will find so much support and love. Take care everyone and may god bless you!"

Stamp Out Breast Cancer Day #4!

"This is my story of hope. In 1984, I had a mastectomy (full) and also I was sterilised by radiation. I was put on Tamoxifen, which I stayed on for over 15 years, stopping only when I had bleeding problems. I came off it then but had a recurrence in 2005. I am 57 and still wonder what I will do when I grow up – I am planning now until I am 91 at least. Every day is a good day – tomorrow, who knows. It's not always easy but I am now on Arimidex and all is going well. I do take some herbs and try to watch my diet, eating a lot of fruit and vegetables and only a little dairy. I am a teacher working full time and we do a lot of fundraising for Tri To Beat Cancer here in Dublin. You just have to go for it. I hope my story gives hope to everyone. I have survived and I am traveling the world as much as I can. Love and prayers to all of you. God bless."

Stamp Out Breast Cancer Day #3!

"Hello all. I am a breast cancer survivor and it's been 14 years this December. I want to encourage all to have HOPE and to stay POSITIVE. I did lots of praying to GOD, which is and was very, very important to my survival. I try to come on as much as possible to help others. I have heart problems from the chemo but I'm doing GOOD. The treatments helped me to survive this long (Praise The Lord) so it may be rough now, but trust me it does get better if you believe and stay strong and POSITIVE. God bless us all."
