MDS Blog Hop…. FALL!

Happy Friday!!! It's MDS Blog Hop day!! Today's challenge was FALL — which worked PERFECTLY with all of the NEW MDS Downloads that have came out over the past 2 weeks!!! There are some super awesome kits – so if you haven't checked them out yet, be sure to do so!

I decided to do a spread with Thanksgiving Photos from 2009 (still working on that album!!)

I'm out of town at Stampin' Up!'s Founder's Circle Retreat, and just don't have the time to type up a full list of downloads used (sorry!) – but I primarily used components from the new "Greatful Heart" Designer Kit.

Another Poppin’ Color Combo

As you're reading this, I'm in a car on vacation! I'm heading out with my boys, brother and sister in law and their 2 boys and my parents for a 4 day Vacation. We're not headed too far from home – only 6 hours – to Philadelphia, PA! On our way down we are stopping at the Steamtown National Park Train Museum. Then Saturday and Sunday we're spending at Sesame Place – the main reason for the trip! Then on Monday we're spending Memorial Day in Philly – the perfect holiday to spend there! We're doing some sightseeing and a tour and then going to a super fun hands on aquarium. Needless to say….. I'm going to have some SERIOUS scrapbooking to do!!! I'm actually bringing my laptop with me so I can try and do some MDS Scrapbooking in the car…. if I don't get car sick that's 12 hours of scrappin'! I won't be checking e-mails while I'm gone, BUT, I have auto scheduled all of the posts for while I'm gone so there won't be any interruption in your MDS Sample Viewing!! Enjoy!

It's time for another fun color combination! Just like my post a few days ago…. when you pull your color inspiration from the photos, sometimes it leads to something pretty fun. So here we have some Pacific Point and Daffodil Delight pared with the retired Green Galore. I had a lot of fun with the arrows on this one, too! It's just so much fun how flexible designing is with MDS… you're not locked into things like you are with paper and ink scrapbooking! If I had wanted to use our arrow punch "in person" – I wouldn't have been able to extend anywhere near the length I have here.

Dear Aly, Q&A!

Happy Thursday, everyone! Today I'm busy preparing for tonight's Elements of Style Stamp-A-Stack – it's going to be a good turn out, I'm so excited about this new monthly offering! I hope you'll be able to join us for July's – more details coming soon!

I often receive questions from customers that are good questions for everyone to hear the response to. I want to start highlighting these questions here on my blog and also in my Customer Exclusive Newsletter – here is the first!

Dear Aly: "How do you get "unstuck" when you're designing a card and it's just not coming together right ?"

Dear Suzie Stamper: This is a great question, and I think a common struggle for stampers, or anyone in the pursuit of creativity. All I can say is the Stampin' Up! Idea Book & Catalog is my right hand man! That catalog is truly not just a catalog, but an amazing idea book. It is JAM PACKED with inspiration on every page – utilize it! What I like to do when I'm stuck is first pick out what stamp set I want to work with, then I flip through old catalogs (or sometimes the current one) and look for layouts. I look for layouts that have cardstock pieces that would work with the different images in the particular stamp set I want to use. Then, I flip through for a color combination I like and start re-creating! By the time you get done changing the colors, images and accessories – you couldn't recognize the card unless you had them held up next to one another.

For example… does this card look familiar? I posted it back in November, but that's not what I mean… I mean do you recognize it from anywhere else?

Pull out your 2009-2010 Catalog and I'll bet you start to recognize it pretty fast – it's the layout from the front cover! See how EASY it can be to get "unstuck" in your creating!?
