If I had a million dollars…
Welcome to this week's MDS Blog Hop! Our theme for the week was end of school or summer. With 2 months left of school here on the east coast, I wasn't quite "there" yet this week (though we are having some BEAUTIFUL summery weather!) So I decided to use some photos from the trip to FIJI I just got back from. Even though they were just entering into their Winter — it sure FELT like Summer to me!

Here's a fun journaling tip… try writing along with a favorite song! This can be a lot of fun when you're having a writing block. Or, if you simply want to step away from the norm. I had the Barenaked Ladies song stuck in my head when I was working on this page, so substituted monkey for island and voila!
These pictures are from an excursion we took to a private island (I would write a little more seriously about that on the coordinating page).

It’s a Ninja Party!
Hi Everyone! Welcome to this week's MDS Blog Hop! This is the week where we show you what we've been working on.
My son's 4th Birthday Party was this weekend, so that and preparing for the Stampin' Up! trip to FIJI is what's been consuming my time! It's made for little MDS-ing. However, I DID do up a couple of things quick for my son's party. Not nearly as much as I had HOPED, but some.
It was a Ninja themed party, so I made up the favors into Asian take out boxes and made up a label in MDS to stick on them. Here they are!

Here's a close up of the label, I sized the circle to fit into the 1 3/4" Circle Punch and then printed them off on label sheets to peel and stick…

The text, Japanese writing and Dojo graphic are ALL free fonts.
The other MDS touch I did was a sign for the swords and headbands….

Same fonts for the sign. The other handmade touch I did isn't MDS related, but I DID punch out lots and lots of circles from our cardstock and punches for table confetti!

Here's my little 4 year old Ninja (on the left!) with his cousin. They had a BLAST!

So that's what I've been working on!!! Now go on and check out what the other fabulous ladies have been spending their time on this month : )
Spring is in the Air!

The Chalkboard Trend!
Happy MDS Blog Hop Wednesday!
Today is the day of the month where we share with you what we've been working on. So I thought I'd share with you the card that I made for recognition at our March Stamp Fest! I like to do Hybrid cards as often as possible so that there is some 3-D element to them. This is what the card front looked like when I sent it off to our Professional Printer…

And then here's the finished hybrid version with a Button and Baker's Twine added!

Chalkboard Design is SO trendy right now! It's everywhere. And when you pair MDS's Chalkboard DSP with some FREE Chalkboard Fonts, it's super easy to create Chalkboard Projects! The "Convention 2012 Digital Kit" is my favorite download for Chalkboard Pages and themed accents ("Back to School" rocks, too). And here is a list of my favorite FREE Chalkboard Fonts…

Have some fun playing around with these!

My Latest MDS Design

Hi Everyone!
It's time for another MDS Blog Hop! Since we already had the holiday themed hop for the month (check it out here if you missed it), this last hop of the month is where we show you what we've been working on!
I've been working on my 2009 Family Album (you know…the one I've been saying I'm working on since we started the hop). But I'm FINALLY nearing the end of it, and am determined to get it done by the end of March so that I can send it to the Professional Printer during Sale-A-Bration and get FREE Sale-A-Bration benefits! Sale-A-Bration is definitely a GREAT time to take advantage of print services… do you have anything you've been wanting to get ordered? Set a goal to get it done by March 21st (SAB ends March 22nd but I'm SURE the computer system will be on overload that day and I wouldn't risk waiting!).
So here is one of the layouts I've done this week (I've posted a couple on my Facebook Page and will be posting more here on my blog).

I always do double page layouts, but it's hard to show a full spread with the amount of blog space I have! Here's a look at the double page spread so you can at least get an idea on how I handle the flow of the page across two pages. I want them to coordinate, but not be exact duplicates so change up some element coloring and placement.
I had a lot of fun with hexagons on this one! TIP: Use the new "Global Search" feature in MDS2 to find EVERYTHING you want of one type of thing. For example, I typed "hexagon" into the Global Search and it brought up every stamp brush, punch and embellishment I own using hexagons. This saves me from hunting through each individual folder along the sidebar.
