If I had a million dollars…
Welcome to this week's MDS Blog Hop! Our theme for the week was end of school or summer. With 2 months left of school here on the east coast, I wasn't quite "there" yet this week (though we are having some BEAUTIFUL summery weather!) So I decided to use some photos from the trip to FIJI I just got back from. Even though they were just entering into their Winter — it sure FELT like Summer to me!

Here's a fun journaling tip… try writing along with a favorite song! This can be a lot of fun when you're having a writing block. Or, if you simply want to step away from the norm. I had the Barenaked Ladies song stuck in my head when I was working on this page, so substituted monkey for island and voila!
These pictures are from an excursion we took to a private island (I would write a little more seriously about that on the coordinating page).

My Latest MDS Design

Hi Everyone!
It's time for another MDS Blog Hop! Since we already had the holiday themed hop for the month (check it out here if you missed it), this last hop of the month is where we show you what we've been working on!
I've been working on my 2009 Family Album (you know…the one I've been saying I'm working on since we started the hop). But I'm FINALLY nearing the end of it, and am determined to get it done by the end of March so that I can send it to the Professional Printer during Sale-A-Bration and get FREE Sale-A-Bration benefits! Sale-A-Bration is definitely a GREAT time to take advantage of print services… do you have anything you've been wanting to get ordered? Set a goal to get it done by March 21st (SAB ends March 22nd but I'm SURE the computer system will be on overload that day and I wouldn't risk waiting!).
So here is one of the layouts I've done this week (I've posted a couple on my Facebook Page and will be posting more here on my blog).

I always do double page layouts, but it's hard to show a full spread with the amount of blog space I have! Here's a look at the double page spread so you can at least get an idea on how I handle the flow of the page across two pages. I want them to coordinate, but not be exact duplicates so change up some element coloring and placement.
I had a lot of fun with hexagons on this one! TIP: Use the new "Global Search" feature in MDS2 to find EVERYTHING you want of one type of thing. For example, I typed "hexagon" into the Global Search and it brought up every stamp brush, punch and embellishment I own using hexagons. This saves me from hunting through each individual folder along the sidebar.

A Look at Childhood
Hi Everyone!
Today's MDS Blog Hop theme was to create a page about your childhood…. Love the challenge, but have NO pictures of me from childhood that I can get into MDS! Gosh, I guess I better get a hold of some pictures and do some serious scanning!
To not leave you hanging, I thought I would post a layout I haven't shared yet from Landon's early early childhood. Yes – still working on that gosh darn 2009 album! Don't worry ladies, you can get through a book much faster than me… I poke so bad and don't spend the time on it as often as I'd like!
This layout was taken from Heather Summers and just changed up in colors and some other little things – I thought it was too perfect to not use for this page!

Be sure to check out the rest of the hop!
Fun with Layouts!
Happy Friday!
This weeks challenge was to use a layout from Pintrest to make our page : )
Here is the page that I did! I love working with outdoor photos… they are so much fun to scrapbook! This page uses just a hodgepodge of prints and downloads… nothing came together in a kit – a little of this and a little of that to pull in the colors I wanted.

Time to see the other layouts that have been used today! Happy hopping!
How about… Top Picks!!
Happy Friday & MDS Blog Hop Day!
Today's challenge was to use our top downloads. Easiest challenge ever! I love it!!
I've been a busy bee working on our 2009 album to get it done and off to the printer before the 30% off deadline. So I have FOUR pages to share with you today!
NOTE: These layouts were all pretty much taken from fellow blog hoppers since I'm in a pinch for time! I love when I can start with a great layout — thank you ladies for your inspiration!
In no particular order….
Top Download #1 – Mis-Stiched! I just love this download and all of the quirky stitch patterns that come with it!
Top Download #2 – Baker's Twine! I don't know if I've ever made a page without it!
Both of these downloads are shown on this page…

Top Download #3 – Epic Overlays! This is another one I use on pretty much every project. It's a stamp brush set that has SO many fun little diddys that you can add to just about any project.
The splatter and arrow come from this stamp brush set and top pic — you'll also find some more of my must have Baker's Twine! (Layout taken from one of Erica's pages)

Top Download #4 – Glimmer Brads! I just LOVE how these can make any project POP!
I've used a ton of glimmer brads on this page as well as my other top pics — Epic Overlays and Baker's Twine. A side note… can I just say how in LOVE with recoloring embellishments I am!? That nice stark black button was once vanilla : ) I also recolored the pom pom trim and some of the dsp.

Top Download #5 – Taffeta Trimmings! I ADORE the fun pleated ribbon runs and funky bows in this download!
Top Download #6 – Dahlias! They come in a bazillion colors and are DELICIOUS! Just as yummy as the real thing : )
Top Download #7 - Digi Tape! I have it in every color and size they've released and use it as often as possible. It's just the right little somethin' somethin' on SO many projects!
This page uses my Top Downloads 5-7 in addition to more Baker's Twine (I told ya, every project!) I'm pretty sure the splatter is from Epic Overlays, too — but I forget! If it isn't it could be : ). I also did some more recoloring with the Taffeta Trimmings, turning them into In Colors! Love that function of MDS2! (Page elements taken from I think from one of Jeanna's pages? She can correct me if I'm wrong! I'm forgetting!)

Alright! Time to head on over and find out what other TOP DOWNLOADS the other girls have!
MDS Friday: For Mom

Happy Friday!!!
It's MDS Blog Hop day, and today's challenge was "Mom"! This layout is VERY unoriginal… it came from the Sunset Serenade Designer Kit! I'm getting so far behind on my scrapbooking and just want my 2009 album DONE…. so am starting to use a lot of templates to save time and help me knock of the book.
That's one of the beauties of MDS…. you CAN design from scratch, but you don't have to!

Landon's Birthday is on Sunday and I've been hard at work creating a Mickey Birthday Party with My Digital Studio! So check back soon for more MDS projects with that
Now, check out the other Mother's Day Projects!
A Fun Color Combo!

Happy Friday!!!
Today's Blog Hop Challenge was a Color Combo Challenge! We were to use: Night of Navy, Pear Pizzazz, Melon Mambo, Basic Grey and Whisper White.
I have to admit…. I struggled with this one! I LOVED the colors together, but with a family of mostly boys, my girly colored photos are few and far between. Then I found these pictures and was so thankful my niece had worn bright pink at Christmas…! It worked perfect! I had always loved the Melon Mambo in the "FROSTY DAY II" Digital Paper — so was happy to be able to put it to use.
Here's what I came up with!

Check out what the other girls have come up with!
