Getting Back in the Swing of Things

Hi Everyone!

Well, I'm working hard on getting back in the swing of things, but Christmas Celebrations are still continuing in our family! We have our last Christmas Party this coming Sunday, but I have a few days in here to re-coop and get back to some stamping! Although, my studio is a DISASTER Zone, so before I do ANYTHING I have to go down and pick up…. and I have the Birthday Card Class coming up on Saturday that I need to prep for…. so we'll see how the Stamping for Fun thing goes, I might not have something new to show you but I'll come up with something to get posts going again!

For today, I'm just going to share some Christmas Photos that relate to Stampin' Up!. The first one here is me helping Landon write in his "Letter's to Santa" book! Refer to This Post to see what I'm taking about…

I was hoping to get his photo with Santa in the book so you could see the layout but haven't gotten to it yet…. soon!

The next thing I thought I would share is a shirt that I made for Brad with the Snowboard Decor Element:

ALY'S HELPFUL HINTS:

  • Decor Elements work best on a smooth, hard surface — but with a little extra effort, you can get them to transfer onto fabric, but isn't a permanent hold.
  • Here, I transferred the Decor Element on to the shirt, spritzed the shirt with a bleach/water mixture, and them peeled away the Decor Element to reveal the true color of the shirt — glorified masking!
  • I started with a 1/2 and 1/2 mixture of water and bleach, but ended up with 3/4 bleach. I think the potency depends on the quality of the shirt you're working with — the cheaper shirts are easy to bleach, but this was a higher quality fabric that seemed to resist the bleach a little bit. I think the color of the fabric also is an influence — if you're bleaching a black shirt, it won't take much bleach at all to work.
  • You want to be sure that the bleach doesn't soak through to the back of the shirt, so put a hard surface in between the shirt layers while you're letting the bleach sit.
  • When you get the bleaching you desire, take your shirt to a basin and rinse it out well, pealing off the Decor Element as you rinse.
  • Put the shirt immediately in the washing machine – ALONE – and wash it well.

WHAT TO ORDER:

Decor Element of Choice, I used Sporty Snowboarder (116116) and Decor Element Applicator (114285)

Glass Decor Ornaments

A couple of days ago I shared with you the mitten/scarf/hat set that I made for the Gift Exchange for my Team Christmas Party. Today I'm going to share with you the Glass Ornaments that I made as a gift for everyone who attended! I'm also going to try to get them to my long distance 1st level downline that couldn't attend — just not to sure how to ship glass!

ALY'S HELPFUL HINTS:

  • I created the snowflakes using Raw Decor Element Sheets. These sheets are come in a roll, you get two 12" x 24" sheets of Vinyl and two 12" x 24" sheets of transfer tape. The sheets come in Kraft, Chocolate, White and Dark Gray.
  • These sheets were designed for use with the Big Shot, but I found a way to make then work with punches! At first it didn't seem possible because the punch wasn't cutting through the layers — but then I flipped the Decor Sheet over so that I was looking at the Grid Side instead of the Vinyl side and voila! It worked!!!!! It's funny that it matters what side you're looking at, but it does. The punch that I used is the Snowflake Punch.
  • The inside of the ornaments are stuffed with basket paper stuffing – an easy way to add a splash of color!
  • For each button attachment, use a Mini Glue Dot.

WHAT TO ORDER:

Chocolate Decor Element Sheets (114337), Fresh Favorites II Buttons (107422), Jumbo Snowflake Punch (116628), White Gel Pen (105021), Mini Glue Dot (103683) and Mistletoe Ribbon Orignals (116792)
