If I had a million dollars…

Welcome to this week's MDS Blog Hop! Our theme for the week was end of school or summer. With 2 months left of school here on the east coast, I wasn't quite "there" yet this week (though we are having some BEAUTIFUL summery weather!) So I decided to use some photos from the trip to FIJI I just got back from. Even though they were just entering into their Winter — it sure FELT like Summer to me!

Here's a fun journaling tip… try writing along with a favorite song! This can be a lot of fun when you're having a writing block. Or, if you simply want to step away from the norm. I had the Barenaked Ladies song stuck in my head when I was working on this page, so substituted monkey for island and voila!

These pictures are from an excursion we took to a private island (I would write a little more seriously about that on the coordinating page).

MDS Blog Hop – St. Patty’s Day Parade Page

Happy Blog Hop Day! Today's MDS theme is to create for a holiday this month. I think most of the ladies went with Easter…. but I went with St. Patrick's Day : )

Last year, we had a BEAUTIFUL St. Patrick's Day that hit 80 degrees — unheard of in Upstate NY! Needless to say, the parade was PACKED — everyone came out for it. We actually had to leave early because the kids had enough of the sun! This year it's supposed to be 35 and snowing. But hubby and I are going anyway (little man isn't this year) — It's become a tradition! I'm not sure why, but I just love the silliness of the holiday and the sea of green. It's nice not to have to take things seriously every once in a while!

Here is a layout that I did from last year's parade…

One of these days I'll make a layout without the splatter tool….. Today is not one of those days. Tomorrow probably won't be either! But someday. I'm addicted to it!!! It's the perfect little touch to nearly every page.

I was in need of some good POPS of green, and the kit that actually went PERFECTLY was the Convention 2011 Download! This download uses colors not in our color family, and the perfect greens for a St. Patty's Day spread.

My Latest MDS Design

Hi Everyone!

It's time for another MDS Blog Hop! Since we already had the holiday themed hop for the month (check it out here if you missed it), this last hop of the month is where we show you what we've been working on!

I've been working on my 2009 Family Album (you know…the one I've been saying I'm working on since we started the hop). But I'm FINALLY nearing the end of it, and am determined to get it done by the end of March so that I can send it to the Professional Printer during Sale-A-Bration and get FREE Sale-A-Bration benefits! Sale-A-Bration is definitely a GREAT time to take advantage of print services… do you have anything you've been wanting to get ordered? Set a goal to get it done by March 21st  (SAB ends March 22nd but I'm SURE the computer system will be on overload that day and I wouldn't risk waiting!).

So here is one of the layouts I've done this week (I've posted a couple on my Facebook Page and will be posting more here on my blog).

I always do double page layouts, but it's hard to show a full spread with the amount of blog space I have! Here's a look at the double page spread so you can at least get an idea on how I handle the flow of the page across two pages. I want them to coordinate, but not be exact duplicates so change up some element coloring and placement.

I had a lot of fun with hexagons on this one! TIP: Use the new "Global Search" feature in MDS2 to find EVERYTHING you want of one type of thing. For example, I typed "hexagon" into the Global Search and it brought up every stamp brush, punch and embellishment I own using hexagons. This saves me from hunting through each individual folder along the sidebar.

Today's theme is SNOW! Make a card, scrapbook page, 3-D… whatever Crafty MDS project you can think of that includes SNOW!

A couple of days after Christmas we needed to get OUT of the house for some fresh air (being cooped up playing with the Legos and Skylanders your kid got for 3 days will do that to you!) so off to the sledding hill we went. I decided to scrapbook a couple of those pictures for today's challenge!

A Look at Childhood

Hi Everyone!

Today's MDS Blog Hop theme was to create a page about your childhood…. Love the challenge, but have NO pictures of me from childhood that I can get into MDS! Gosh, I guess I better get a hold of some pictures and do some serious scanning!

To not leave you hanging, I thought I would post a layout I haven't shared yet from Landon's early early childhood. Yes – still working on that gosh darn 2009 album! Don't worry ladies, you can get through a book much faster than me… I poke so bad and don't spend the time on it as often as I'd like!

This layout was taken from Heather Summers and just changed up in colors and some other little things – I thought it was too perfect to not use for this page!

Be sure to check out the rest of the hop!

Fun with Layouts!

Happy Friday!

This weeks challenge was to use a layout from Pintrest to make our page : )

Here is the page that I did! I love working with outdoor photos… they are so much fun to scrapbook! This page uses just a hodgepodge of prints and downloads… nothing came together in a kit – a little of this and a little of that to pull in the colors I wanted.

Time to see the other layouts that have been used today! Happy hopping!

It’s all about the FOOD!

Happy MDS Blog Hop Day!!! I'm sorry I'm an hour late in posting this…. between back to school, a Team Time & Halloween Party last night and Shoppe today and tomorrow — my brain isn't functioning quite properly!

Today's challenge was FOOD, so I thought I would share with you a cookbook my mom made me that sits in our kitchen : ) — she made it with the Cookbook Board Book Designer Template and plugged in her own photos and favorite recipes. I love it! And I LOVE these board books!!!

There are more pages, but there's a few to give you the idea! I just love this way of cherishing family recipes – they make great gifts!

Time to hop around and check out what other food projects have been created today!
