ALY'S HELPFUL HINTS:

  • I don't generally do monochromatic cards, but I saw this layout in an old catalog done in So Saffron and really loved the look – so decided to try it with Stars and Pumpkin Pie instead!
  • The stamp set used here, "Starring You" is a stamp set that you can take for FREE until the end of the month during Sale-A-Bration! I just love that Stampin' Up! is allowing us to pick stamp sets for under $16 this year!
  • I used the "Scallop Border Punch" to create the scallop edges on the Whisper White Cardstock. I think this was my first time using this edge punch on 2 edges like this with a piece of cardstock in the middle… a little different!

WHAT TO ORDER:

Starring You Stamp Set (111696 or FREE During SAB!), Pumpkin Pie Cardstock (105117), Pumpkin Pie Classic Ink (105216), Whisper White Cardstock (100730), Pumpkin Pie 1 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon (115616), Scallop Edge Punch (112091), Wide Oval Punch (112082) and 1/16" Circle Punch (101227)

Congrats from Terri

I've been so busy stamping things that I can't post yet, that I'm scrounging up things to take photos of to be able to show you!!! This little gem of a card is one that I never posted and should have – it's darling! This card was made for me by my Service Account's Manager (SAM) over at Stampin' Up! as a Congratulations Card for earning Founder's Circle this year.

I want to pass it on and consider this a "virtual" congratulations card to two FABULOUS Heartfelt Stamper's Team Members – Amy Rist and Pam Kane! Amy and Pam have both just promoted to Senior Associates – and in their first month as a Demonstrator!!! They're on FIRE!! Congratulations, Ladies!

The "Congrats" Card also fits in perfectly with it being a Thursday – Thursdays are "Toot Your Horn Thursdays" over on our Heartfelt Stamper's Yahoo Group – it's a day where all of the fabulous ladies are able to share what accomplishments they're proud of! Mine for the day? Hmmm… I'm quite proud of the fact that my Studio isn't a COMPLETE mess!!! I have also finished all of my SWAPs and Shoebox SWAP for Regionals… those are big pluses!

WHAT TO ORDER:

Seeing Stars Stamp Set (115352), Fundamental Phrases Stamp Set (114968), Dusty Durango Cardstock (115321), Dusty Durango Classic Ink (115654), Dusty Durango Polka Dot Ribbon (115609), Bashful Blue Cardstock (105120), Bashful Blue Classic Ink (105209) and So Saffron Cardstock (105118), So Saffron Classic Ink (105213), Chocolate Chip Classic Ink (100908), Whisper White Cardstock (100730), Rich Regals Brads (106953) and Stampin' Dimensionals (104430)

You mean EVERYTHING to me.

A couple of months ago at our Team Christmas Party we did a Valentine SWAP to have some ideas on hand for the upcoming holiday. Well, I set this gem aside to share with you all closer to the date – and here it is!

Team Member Jen Rios Raner made this card – and I just adore it! The card is even more fitting for her, because her husband's name is Eric — so the "E" on the top can stand for Eric in her case — or the word "Everything" in red for the rest of us! Very clever :)

ALY'S HELPFUL HINTS:

  • Sick of just tying your ribbon in a knot around a cardstock layer? Try this fun little trick that Jen did here with using one ribbon piece around another for a knotless use of ribbon – love it!
  • The texture plates are a wonderful way to add some extra "umph" to a card – check out the diamonds in the background of the red cardstock here.
  • Bring out your Stampin' Write Markers when you want to draw extra attention to a word! Just ink up the word you want to draw attention to in another color, as done here with the word "everything."

Sorrow Bird

A couple of weeks ago I shared with you the Motif Prayers that we made at our November Card Ministry Night. It's time to share the other card that we made that evening! We were most in need of Get Well and Sympathy Cards, so that's where our focus was.

ALY'S HELPFUL HINTS:

  • Can't decide which color of ribbon to use? Use both! Instead of cutting one color the length you want it to be, cut two pieces of ribbon each half the length that you need them. Tack each ribbon behind the cardstock with SNAIL Adhesive – and then tie them together — two toned ribbon!
  • To help your sentiment "pop" try embossing your words as shown here.
  • This stamp set "Bird on a Branch" is a 2-Step Stamp Set – use each image in it's own color, layering them together to get a multi-toned focal point.
  • Don't have thread to tie through your button hole? No need! Simple cut away the "piping" edge of ribbon and you have your very own piece of makeshift thread that will fit easily through your button holes! Here's a picture to illustrate what I'm describing:

WHAT TO ORDER:

Bird on a Branch stamp Set (113266), Close As a Memory Stamp Set (114946), Autumn Meadows Designer Series Paper (116769), Chocolate Chip Cardstock (102128), Chocolate Chip Classic Ink (100908), Basic Black Cardstock (102851), Basic Black Classic Ink (101179), Taken with Teal Classic Ink (103257), Whisper White Cardstock (100730), 1/2" Circle Punch (104390), 3/4" Circle Punch (107217), Playground Buttons (116313), Basic Black 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon (115605), Chocolate Chip 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon (109051), VersaMark Inkpad (102283), Black Embossing Powder (109133) and Heat Tool (100005)

Birthday Card Class

I'm pleased to announce an upcoming class that will take place on Saturday January 2nd at TWO locations: Canandaigua, NY and West Irondequoit, NY — a Birthday Card Class!!!

Let's start the year out with getting ready for some birthdays you'll be celebrating in 2010. We'll make 5 different birthday cards for young and old, male and female!

Here's a look at one of the five cards that you'll complete at this class:

You can view full details and register for this class online by clicking here.

I won't be sharing all 5 cards that we'll be completing online, most of the design work is privy for those who attend (or Demonstrators that purchase the file)! But I will be giving you a sneak peek of just 1 more card in a few days, so keep checking in at www.alystamps.com to get a glimpse!

If you're a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator and would like to purchase the PDF File for this class (do so TODAY and get one FREE month of Card Kit Design!) visit my "For Demos" section by clicking here.

I had so much fun designing these birthday cards… maybe a little too much fun! When I was done, I just had to laugh at what my work table looked like. It very much looked like a bomb had gone off! While I wouldn't normally ever show such a disaster zone, I thought my stamping friends would find some humor in it, so took a quick shot… this is what goes into creating the classes you enjoy!

Get Well Bandaid

I made this fun card for my aunt who is recovering from surgery. I received this stamp set free at Convention for one of my Annual Achivement Awards, and had yet to use it! Decided it was time to whip it out  — it's a fun one!

This card is also a huge milestone for me… this is the FIRST card I think I've ever done without Stampin' Dimensionals on it!!!!!! I honestly can't believe it myself… as I sit here typing out the Supply List I'm still thinking there must be a mistake…!

ALY'S HELPFUL HINTS:

  • The "bandaid" look was replicated as a cardstock layer by running Creamy Caramel Cardstock through the Big Shot with a Polka Dot Texture Plate! TIP: To get a deeper impression with your texture plate, try spritzing your cardstock with a little water on the BACK side of the cardstock. If you do it on the front you'll get water spots on your cardstock. The extra moisture helps to mold the cardstock as it goes through your machine!
  • Buttons always have two sides! I needed a small vanilla button and the only one I had (or so I thought!) had a flower on it. I just flipped it over and voila! A brand new button.
  • Tying some Linen Thread through your button holes is the perfect way to finish it off. The adhesive of choice for buttons? Mini Glue Dots, hands down!
  • Tying one ribbon type around another is a great way to add some added interest.

WHAT TO ORDER:

Wellness Wishes Stamp Set (115356), Neutrals Textured Cardstock (108589), Whisper White Cardstock (100730), Basic Black Classic Ink (101179), Creamy Caramel Cardstock (102514), Creamy Caramel Stampin' Write Marker (100078), Real Red Classic Ink (103133), Real Red Cardstock (102482), Button Latte (114333), Real Red 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon (109052), Basic Black 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon (109027), Linen Thread (104199), 1/2" Circle Punch (104390), Mini Glue Dots (103683), Big Shot Die-Cut Machine (113439), Stampin' Up! Backgrounds 1 Texture Plates (114512), Polka Dot Background Stamp – On Dormant List (109276).
