Newsprint Amour…

By far, my favorite new line in the entire new catalog is the "Vintage Suite" line. You can get an overview on pages 124 and 125 of the new catalog. Here is a card I created using some products from this line!

ALY'S HELPFUL HINTS:

• Stampin' Up! describes the "Vintage Suite" line the following way…
  • Aged, Typographical Art
  • Weathered, Antiqued Paper Designs

  • For Cards, Pages and Decor
• You're going to be seeing this line a LOT from me, because I find it just delicious! On this card, I've used the Newsprint Designer Series Paper and Antique Brads to create the overall tone for the card.
• I'm not sure that I've ever created a card so simplistic in it's color choices! But it works. I just love how crisp simple usage of black and vanilla is. I did throw in some Crumb Cake for another neutral addition.
• To make this wide striped grosgrain ribbon narrow, I just folded it in half!

Butterfly Flight & Shine!

Can I just say that I L-O-V-E all of my new goodies!? Because I do!!! I had so much fun sitting down and creating with a fresh assortment of product. I also am in love with the Color Renovation – designing is SO MUCH EASIER with this new color line up! And my shelves feel so uncluttered having had weeded out the colors that weren't used all that much. Here's the first card that I'll share with you from my new shipment!

ALY'S HELPFUL HINTS:

• This new Specialty Paper is just to die for! It's the "Sweet & Sour" that has glossy designs! I've made a couple of cards now with this package, and have loved each of them – Top Pick for sure!
• We have a fabulous new stamp set called "Butterfly Prints" that coordinates with the butterfly punch. The Designs are really great, and coordinate beautifully with this Specialty Paper.
• By far, the thing that I am MOST excited about from this catalog are the Rhinestone and Pearl accents!!!!! Here, used a rhinestone accent as the head of the butterfly. These new Jewel Packages are sold separately which I love because I can use them ALL I WANT! Only $4.95 for 150 pre-adhesive jewels – you can't beat that!
• All of our buttons have been reconfigured and oh my gosh, loving it! There are so many more colors to choose from and it makes designing so easy. Here I used a flower button from the Subtles Package.

Punched Posies… Gone Green!

I just adore the Level 2 Exclusive Hostess Set featured in the Summer Mini Catalog, "Punched Posies." Here's a fun card I made with it trying to think outside the box a little bit!

ALY'S HELPFUL HINTS:

• The thing I love about this stamp so much, besides it's fabulous artwork, is that EVERY SINGLE STAMP in it coordinates with a punch!!!!! I just LOVE when I don't have to cut anything out by hand and can instead punch it right out in 1 simple step! Here, I used the Scallop Circle Punch to punch out all of the flowers that create the shape of the tree.
• The Filigree Brads work beautifully with this set – the artwork in the images coordinates so well with the loops in the filigrees!
• I'm utilizing TWO new colors in this card coming on July 1st – Pear Pizzaz and Early Espresso! Love them!
• The trunk was cut out free handed with Paper Snips… sorry, there's no template, I just drew it free hand with a pencil and cut!

Awash with Purple!

Today's card is OUT with the old and IN with the new all rolled into one!

ALY'S HELPFUL HINTS:

• This stamp set, "Awash with Flowers" is a sneak peek – it will be available on July 1st in the NEW 2010-2011 Idea Book & Catalog! I just adore working with this set – it's been a while since I've had a 2-Step Stamping Set that I really love.
• What is 2-Step Stamping? 2-Step Stamp Sets come with 2 parts – 1 part is a series of bold images – this is what you stamp your lighter colors in. Part 2 is a series of outlined images – this is what you stamp your darker color in. 2-Step Stamping is a beautiful way to achieve rich images, without having to go through all of the work of water coloring! And 2-Step Stamping has NEVER been easier with our new CLEAR MOUNT STAMPS – it makes lining up your images as easy as pie!
• Have you tried Textured Cardstock yet? I just ADORE textured cardstock – it's probably one of my favorite products! It adds SO MUCH to a card by doing so little, which allows you to make simpler cards that looked jazzed up in a fraction of the time. Textured card is what I've used here on the background purples.
• The colors of this card is all about the retiring purples!!! I'm going to miss these light purple beauties dearly. I've used Pale Plum, Lavender Lace and Almost Amethyst. Order these colors while you still can!

A SWAP by Phyl

One of my favorite things about Team Time is seeing the SWAPS that everyone comes up with! This month, Team Member Phyl Lyons made this beautiful swap showcasing the Fancy Flower Punch!

ALY'S HELPFUL HINTS:

• To create the suede look to these flowers as Phyl did here, punch out your flowers and rough them up with a Bone Folder, bending the cardstock around the Bone Folder to break down the fibers. Once the fibers break down, the cardstock will start to separate into two pieces. Pull the pieces apart and you know have 2 suede looking flowers to work with!
• Our Whisper White Craft Ink is the perfect choice for stamping on a darker color, as shown here with the Whisper White flowers on the Soft Suede Cardstock.

Elements of Style… Wonderful Color Combo!

I'm just in LOVE with this color combination… I was playing around with color and had Elegant Eggplant and Rich Razzleberry in my hand to decide which of the 2 purples to use and decided that I liked them TOGETHER and not to pick one! Then I had Certainly Celery and Old Olive in my hand to decide which green to put with them and OOOOOH it was EYE CANDY!!!! So this color combo was a result of not being able to make any decisions…! For once a lack of decision making was a GOOD thing!
