Card Idea: There’s Only One You

Happy Monday! I hope that you all had a fabulous weekend. We were able to get away for the weekend to the camp we met at and got married at — the trip down memory lane was wonderful and the R&R much needed.

If you haven't noticed already — I am recommitting to this blog in 2013. I'm not going to tell you that I'll post every day or that I'll have a video every single week — but that is my GOAL. I just know I won't be able to always reach my goal! As my business has grown over the past few years, one of the things that has slipped is CREATING just to CREATE. I'm always designing for classes and events — and those are things I can't always post in full here on the blog, which leaves my blog a bit naked!

My husband and I did some re-arranging in my studio over the holidays and my in laws bought us a flat screen TV for down there as a Christmas Gift…. so now that it's getting a bit more "cozy" for hubby to join me (I don't like heading down by myself in the evenings when I haven't seen him all day) the game plan is for me to CREATE just for the sake of CREATING in the evenings. And then those creative times can be turned into blog posts for all of you : ).

So — expect good things to come and check back frequently!

Lacey & Lovely – The Perfect Set for 2 Layer Cards!

Hi Ladies!

I'm getting ready for the Founder's Circle Retreat in September, where for our SWAP we were challenged to make a 2 layer card. ONLY using TWO layers of Cardstock is a HUGE challenge for me. BUT — some of my favorite cards are 2 layers (I just don't design them!) My mind doesn't think that way, though I would love it to because there's something to be said for SIMPLE stamping.

After I did a little bit of a panic, I realized that my Convention SWAP was actually a 2 layer card! Here is the card that I made for Convention SWAPS this year:

I must be ahead of my time — I did the challenge 2 months too early! But, I figured if this stamp set made it so easy to do a 2 layer card once, I could do it again…. SO — I've got my Founder's Circle SWAP designed, ALSO with this stamp set! And yes, it's 2 layers : ) Mission Accomplished!

Nope, I haven't died. I'm still alive and kickin'…. just not stampin'!!! Believe… in Woodland Walk

ALY'S HELPFUL HINTS:

• Every once in a while, I'm in the mood for a monochromatic card (different hues of the same color) – the designing of this card came at a time for one of those moods! And it's easy to do with the Woodland Walk Designer Series Paper – each piece but 1 has it's own monochromatic line up!
• To get the watercolor look on the main image, I inked up the image and then spritzed it with water before stamping it onto the Watercolor Paper and volia!
• I just love it when greetings line up with punches… it looks great and saves oodles of time – two things I'm ALL about! This greeting works fantastic with the largest of our oval punches.

Cottage Gloss

Have I mentioned how much I adore this Designer Paper!? Haha! I'm pretty sure I've said it about a dozen times, but it's true – it's just divine! When I haven't used it in a couple projects I start to miss it… so needed to pull it out to use on this card!
